Safe house hunting

A genuine landlord never takes a deposit, first rent or a "reservation fee" before a contract is signed and you get access. Never pay to private accounts, in cryptocurrency or abroad for a home you have not seen.

Look the company up at Bolagsverket and compare with the website you were given. Call the phone number on the landlord’s own site, not the one in the email. On plingplong every home links to the landlord’s own page, and we show the organisation number on the landlord profile when we have it.

See the flat before you sign, preferably with the person who turns out to be the landlord or the manager. A landlord who is "abroad" and can only post keys against payment is a classic scam.

Check that it is a first-hand contract if that is what was promised, that the rent matches the listing and that there is a notice period. The Swedish Union of Tenants can help review a contract.

We broker no homes, take no fees and never handle payments. Applications are always made with the landlord. An email claiming to be from us and asking for money is not from us.

Stop the contact and pay nothing. If you already paid, contact your bank at once and report to the police. Tell us at hej@plingplong.se too, so we can remove the listing and warn others.
